housing options
Free housing (with a graduate student) is available. If you need to find a place to stay, please contact Cecilia at aldar002@umn.edu.
If you have not yet booked a hotel, the university rate of $105 at the Holiday Inn Metrodome (the closest hotel to conference events) has expired. However, if you book online you can find a similar rate, depending on availability. Additionally there are cheaper hotels on travel websites such as Expedia.com. The Days Inn University is about 20 minutes walk from the conference events, and has rooms for $64 as of today.
Days Inn on University
2407 University Avenue Southeast
Minneapolis, MN 55414
This is about a 20 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride from the conference location.
Transportation
Bus
For those coming from the Midwest, one can catch a non-stop Megabus from Chicago, Milwaukee and other regional cities. Tickets cost as low as $1 (but averaging between $20 and $40) and the bus drops you off either on the UofM campus or downtown (with a short bus ride or taxi to campus).
Flying
Attendees can fly into the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport (MSP). Sun Country is the local budget airline.
Transportation from the airport
Taxi: Appoximately $25 -- Shuttle: Approx. $16 (Super Shuttle)
Light Rail / Bus: $1.50 ($2 in rush hour) - Take the light rail from the airport toward downtown. Exit at the Metrodome stop. Take the #3, 16, or 50 buses on 4th street (same side of 4th as the lightrail station) heading toward St. Paul/University. This will take you within two blocks of the three hotels near campus. (For more info, see the Twin Cities Metro Transit Quick Trip Planner.) Hotels most likely offer a shuttle service that will bring you to the conference location.
Parking
The UMN lot on 5th St and 22nd Ave is $3.75 after 9:30, but is
sometimes full. Before 9:30, carpool only – get there with 2 or
more people and pay $2.75. Other university parking garages are
pricey (~$12/day).
The lot at the corner of Cedar and Riverside, behind Red Sea
Restaurant, may be the cheapest.
On-street metered parking is possible to find.

Local Restaurants
We will provide breakfast and lunch for participants on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as well as dinner on Friday and Saturday. We’re suggesting that people travel together after the conference on Thursday to the Bedlam restaurant and theater for drinks and dinner.
